As a frequent advisor to Government reviews throughout her career, Juliet Lyon is used to taking a strategic overview. Juliet has worked in a variety of different roles in the voluntary and statutory sectors, from foster carer to director of the Prison Reform Trust.
Juliet also has experience in television and radio broadcasting, and has learnt to express her views and concerns clearly and concisely. Juliet was a founder member of ChildLine’s professional advisory group and the Fawcett Society’s Gender and Justice Network. The Network was designed as an advisory group to help women as victims, women as perpetrators of crime and women who work in justice services. She has shown her leadership skills through her directorship of the Prison Reform Trust and as secretary general of Penal Reform International. Juliet has a particular interest in ensuring that the views of users of public services are taken into account in the development of those services. She has published reports and briefings on women and girls in criminal justice and mental health systems.
